What is Social Emotional Learning?
Social emotional learning teaches us to manage our behavior, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy, and make responsible decisions. There is growing recognition across the country that, in order for students to reach their full potential, schools must meet their social and emotional needs. In Greece, we have made this a priority by actively providing classrooms with multi-tiered systems of support and equitable discipline practices. Some schools also focus on restorative practices and culturally responsive teaching.
Greece is fortunate to have a Student & Family Advocacy & Support (SFAS) Team who partner with schools to address students' social and emotional needs. The SFAS Team consists of a district-based school counselor, social worker, psychologist and drug prevention coordinator.
