District Names New Pine Brook Principal, Assistant Directors of PPS 

The Greece Central School District Board of Education recently approved the appointment of Andrea Geglia as Principal of Pine Brook Elementary School and Emily Guarino and Brian Kurdziel as Assistant Directors of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS).

Pine Brook Elementary School Principal

We are pleased to welcome Andrea Geglia to the Greece Central School District as the next principal of Pine Brook Elementary School. She comes to Greece from the Hilton Central School District. In her 20 years at Hilton, Geglia has served as an assistant principal, curriculum specialist, International Baccalaureate coordinator, and elementary school teacher.

Assistant Superintendent for Student Achievement and Family and Community Engagement Valarie Paine said Geglia was selected because she is a strong instructional leader who is committed to students having exceptional learning experiences.

“Her child-centered approach to learning coupled with her special education background makes her a great fit to lead Pine Brook,” Paine added.

Geglia is thrilled to join the exceptional team of students, teachers, staff and families at Pine Brook. She believes very strongly in a child-centered approach to learning and leading and feels ultimately, what matters most is our children’s learning experiences, friendships and opportunities to shine.

“I want to establish relationships of trust with the Pine Brook community where together they can share ideas and perspectives, and make the world a little bit better, every day,” she said.

Geglia holds a Bachelor’s in Childhood and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo, a Master's in Child Development from SUNY Brockport and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership, also from SUNY Brockport. 

 Geglia looks forward to continuing her career in Greece and wants to build on the strong foundation established by retiring Principal Elizabeth Boily.

EMILY GUARINO
Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS)

Greece Central is pleased to have Emily Guarino as part of the PPS team. Guarino comes to Greece from Monroe-2 BOCES where she is currently an instructional specialist working in the Department for Exceptional Children and the Career and Technical Education Program. Prior to that, Guarino worked in the Rochester, Hilton, and Rush-Henrietta school districts as both a social studies and special education teacher.

Guarino’s undergraduate work was done at Monroe Community College and SUNY Brockport, where she returned for her Master's in Literacy and Educational Administration degrees. She is thrilled to be working in an organization that so closely aligns with her professional philosophy and values.

“The district’s continued focus on equity, growth and student learning are all areas that I cannot wait to work with Greece students and families on,” Guarino said, adding that she looks forward to advocating and representing students and families whose paths may not be the most traditional.

BRIAN KURDZIEL
Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS)

We are delighted to add Brian Kurdziel to the Pupil Personnel Services team. Kurdziel comes to Greece from the East Irondequoit Central School District where he is a middle school assistant principal. He began his career as a school psychologist at Eastridge High School and was promoted to Eastridge assistant principal and served in that role for six years before moving to the middle school four years ago.

Kurdziel received his Bachelor's degree and administration certificates from Canisius College and is a graduate of RIT's School Psychology program where he received his master's degree. Brian was attracted to Greece because of the district’s reputation of removing barriers and helping all students achieve success. Brian is excited to work with the PPS team as well as the students and families in the district’s special education programs.

“My goal is to get to know the community and the culture within the district,” he said. “I intend to focus on meeting student goals and building long-term relationships with families.”
