Athena Middle School Clubs and Activities

  • Students are encouraged to get involved in any of the following school clubs and activities:

Academic Challenge Bowl is a jeopardy style quiz-bowl club open to 6th-8th graders. All subject areas are covered, along with sports and pop culture. We meet weekly starting in November and compete against each other during practices at Athena, and compete against other schools in the area during the winter months.

Athena Cares is a community service group, open to grades 6-8, whose activities include organizing fundraisers, community outreach event participation, and promoting its work throughout the school, as well as via social media outlets. Students will hold leadership positions, and be central to all aspects of planning and activities. The group will meet approximately twice monthly. Students will meet every week. Students should listen to the morning announcements for specific dates.

Explore science, math, and technology from a hands on perspective. Students will use Lego robotics to problem solve, program, and develop a team connection.

History Club is open to all students at Athena Middle School. We plan to meet about once a month to prepare to take a number of field trips throughout the year to historical sites in the Rochester area. Field trips will occur after school or on weekends. Field trips may include Rochester Museum and Science Center, the Charlotte Lighthouse, Mt. Hope Cemetery, and more! Hope you can join us!

6th Grade Intramurals meets seperate from Grades 7 and 8.  Dates are TBD.  Check with the Physical Education Dept. for details.  Location is in the ATMS gym from 7:20-8:00 AM.

Students must audition for this club which will be held before school. The Jazz Band provides students with an opportunity to play a variety of music they normally don't have a chance to play. The group will compete and perform at various school functions and possibly compete in a competition at Darien Lake.

Students must be in an Athena Middle School chorus in order to audition for show choir. Auditions will be held in October.  Rehearsals will be in November and December for the Winter Concerts and April and May for the Spring Concerts.

Performance dates and times to be determined. For more information about upcoming productions, click here to visit the Athena Middle School Music Theatre website.

The Ski Club provides an opportunity for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to ski and snowboard at Swain. The Ski Club meets in January and February. Lessons, transportation, and equipment are available making this a great opportunity to learn how to ski or snowboard. Contact Mr. Moore at

Students meet with advisers one – three times each month to plan fund raisers for charity and school-wide activities such as red Ribbon Week, Spirit Week and the School Pep-Rally. They will also provide support to PBIS and PTSA with promoting information and morning announcements.
