Who is eligible for Universal Prekindergarten?
Rules for eligibility are determined by New York State. To attend UPK in the Greece Central School District your child must:-
Reside in the Greece School District. If you are unsure if your address is within the Greece School District, call 966-2472.

Be 4-years of age on or before December 1st of the school year
A child who is age eligible to attend Kindergarten is not eligible for the UPK program.
What is the application process?
Children who are turning 4 years old on or before December 1, 2024, are eligible to enroll in pre-kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year. Eligible families can apply through the UPK Google form on this page by the end of January. If you would like a paper copy of the UPK application, please call 966-2472 to have one mailed. Placement is on a space-available basis.- Complete the online application by the March 1, 2024 deadline. If you have requested a printed copy of the application, drop off or mail the completed application by March 1, 2024 to:

- The NYS grant that funds the majority of the prekindergarten program allots only a certain number of full and half-day slots for students. If you have applied for the program by the deadline, your child will be considered for placement. If more students apply by the deadline than available slots, a computerized, random lottery process will be held to place students. The UPK lottery will occur within the first week of March. Check the website for the date of the lottery. You will be contacted by mail if your child has been accepted to attend the district’s prekindergarten program, along with information about the registration process. Your child must be fully registered with the Greece Central School District in order to participate in the program.
- You can apply after the deadline: Even if it is after the designated deadline, you can complete the online application as we maintain an active, ongoing waitlist throughout the school year. If openings arise throughout the school year, a lottery is enacted. If your child is chosen, you will receive a letter of acceptance indicating how to register your child.
What is needed to register my child in UPK?
Once your child has been accepted into the prekindergarten program, your child must be fully registered with the Greece Central School District in order to participate in the program. Once your child has been accepted into the UPK program, you can register your child online on the registration page of our GCSD website or in person at your child’s UPK site prior to June 1. -
